This is an executive order signed August 5, 2025, creating a new White House Task Force dedicated to coordinating the federal government’s role in hosting the 2028 Summer Olympics and Paralympic Games. It assigns specific responsibilities to cabinet departments and White House staff to plan for security, transportation, border entry and exit, and emergency response around the Games.
A formal interagency body called the White House Task Force on the 2028 Summer Olympics now exists, chaired by the President and vice-chaired by the Vice President, with an appointed Executive Director handling day-to-day operations. The Task Force includes 16 named members — among them the Secretaries of State, Defense, Transportation, and Homeland Security, the Attorney General, the FBI Director, and the FCC Chairman — plus any additional agency heads the Chair invites. Each member agency must submit a written report on its Olympics-related planning to the Executive Director by October 1, 2025. The Department of Homeland Security will house the Task Force administratively and fund its operations. The Task Force is set to dissolve on December 31, 2028, unless the President extends it.
Federal agencies across security, transportation, and law enforcement are now required to coordinate through this Task Force and contribute planning reports on a fixed deadline. State and local governments will interact with the Task Force through formal information-sharing channels as part of Olympic preparation. Foreign athletes, coaches, officials, and media seeking visas or credentials to attend the Games will go through programs that the Task Force helps plan and implement.
